The 2nd International Baku Breast Cancer Congress has begun in Baku. The Congress is organized by the Ministry of Health, the National Oncology Center, Azerbaijan Medical University, and the university's Oncology Clinic.

AZERTAC reports that the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was first played, and a minute of silence was observed in memory of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of our Motherland.

Speaking at the event, the rector of Azerbaijan Medical University, Professor Geray Geraybeyli, said that the aim of the congress was to discuss breast diseases, which are important areas of oncology, as well as women's health in general, and to create a productive dialogue between oncologists, mammologists, and gynecologists from different countries.

It was noted that the scientific program of the congress was developed by the Oncology Clinic of the Azerbaijan Medical University, the National Oncology Center and the Azerbaijan Association of Breast Disease Specialists in close cooperation with leading Turkish specialists in the treatment of breast diseases and covers the most relevant topics.

"I am sure that the participation of world-renowned specialists in the congress, the reports of experts from Turkey, the USA, the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, Georgia and other countries will arouse great interest in everyone and will make a significant contribution to the development of this field of oncology.

Two training courses will also be held within the framework of the congress, which will allow for a more in-depth study of radiological imaging of breast diseases and oncoplastic surgical issues. I hope that the breadth of the scientific program, radiological imaging, oncoplastic surgery courses will justify expectations and hopes," said G. Garaybeyli.

Then, members of the Health Committee of the Milli Majlis, Müşfig Mammadli and Sedagat Valiyeva, stated that the healthcare reforms carried out in Azerbaijan have improved the quality of medical services, that legislative acts in this field have been improved in the Milli Majlis, and that various proposals have been put forward to protect the health of the population.

Speaking at the event, Kocaeli University Rector, Chairman of the Turkish Breast Surgeons Society, Professor Nuh Zafer Cantürk, President of the Senatürk Society, Professor Bahadır Güllüoğlu, Professor of the Department of General Surgery of the Faculty of Medicine of Marmara University, and Director of the Acıbadem Molecular Pathology Laboratory, Professor Çengiz Yakıciyer said that the congress is important in terms of exchanging experience with the breast in the world, and wished success to the event.

The congress continued with sessions.

The work of the congress will be concluded on October 28.
